Speakers

• Beth Borysewicz, a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and Vice Chair of the Hope in Focus Board of Directors, will discuss accessible learning, independence, and supporting individuals with vision loss.
• Jason I. Comander, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Inherited Retinal Disorders Service at Mass Eye and Ear, will discuss the diagnosis, treatment, and emerging therapies for inherited retinal diseases.
• Darya Iranmanesh, an LCA5 patient and advocate, will share her experience living with an inherited retinal disease and the importance of patient advocacy.
• Nicole Ross, OD, MSc, FAAO, DAAO(LV), attending optometrist at NECO Center for Eye Care and instructor in low vision rehabilitation, will share insights on low vision care and supporting patients living with vision loss.
• Martha Steele is a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Carroll Center for the Blind, and serves as the Foundation’s Boston Chapter President. Martha is totally blind due to Usher syndrome and has two cochlear implants. She will share her experience living with vision and hearing loss and the importance of advocacy and community.
